Hello and thank you for being here! I'm so happy you agreed to
participate in this interview. The first question is the one I usually ask
everyone: tell me a little about yourself. Then,
if you like, describe yourself in three adjectives.
Multitasker, enthusiastic, personable.
I see you've published so many books. Congratulations! Can you tell me what the first book you wrote was? And what inspired you to publish it?
What is your latest book about?
My last book release
was “Kael” which is book two in my Monsters & Mates series. It’s a
monster-filled romantic fantasy packed with portal-hopping, fated mates, and
the kind of enemies-to-lovers tension that comes with forced proximity and
clashing personalities. Expect “mine” vibes, hurt/comfort twists, alpha-level
danger, and a spark-filled collision between sharp-witted sass and broody,
battle-hardened muscle.
I'm curious: among all the characters you've written, which was the most difficult and why?
Ooh, tricky. I think
Thatch in “Thicker Than Water.” I really struggled to hear his voice clearly.
It was my first urban fantasy romance book, and as a result, I ended up writing
the book from the single point of view of Callen.
Is there a character you're particularly attached to?
Probably Cassius from
my Zone Defense series. He stars in all four books, but his romance takes place
in book 4, “No Backing Down.” His voice was so strong and light and bright. I
loved creating his character so much. By the time I wrote his story, though, I
knew his background wasn’t quite as easy as his personality pretends to be.
How does it feel to know that your book, your idea, can be read by other people?
Honestly, it’s as
amazing as it is overwhelming. I love the idea of allowing readers the chance
to escape in romance and hope I can give them the opportunity to switch off
from the real world for a little while. It’s when readers reach out to me,
though, and let me know how characters or storylines have touched them in some
way that makes the hard work truly worth it.
Now, I'm asking you what emotions you felt, and still feel, knowing that your books have arrived in Italy. Personally, I'm very happy! If you have, what anecdote can you share with us?
It was a “pinch
myself” moment. Having my books translated feels incredible. I love the idea of
my words reaching other cultures and languages. I’ve been lucky over the years
(when I used to live in the UK) to spend a decent amount of time in Italy, so having
my books translated into such a beautiful language is wonderful.
What do you think should never be missing from a novel, and therefore what is never missing from your writing?
Since I read romance, a happily ever after is a given. J But also, I love a touch of humour and especially sarcasm. Even with heavier topics, breaking up the tension with humour I find is a welcome break.
I also wanted to ask you where you got inspiration for the stories and characters?
Usually it’ll be a random phrase I’ve heard, sometimes even a meme that can trigger an idea. Just last week, I read a meme-based story on social media and immediately ideas pushed to the surface, and I was compelled to write the first 11,000 words of a story that I haven't planned for don’t have time to write. I just knew I had to write them down.
When you
write, do you prefer silence, music, or white noise?
Usually silence, unless I’m writing an emotional scene (or the characters’ compel me to get in touch with romantic emotions). If that’s the case, I put together an emotion-based playlist and listen to it on repeat. Do you have
any behind-the-scenes information about your latest story that no one knows?
One of those secrets no one imagines.
One of my upcoming releases, “Caden & Theo,” (a Gomillion High School Reunion shared world book) that releases in November 2025 was meant to open at the high school reunion between two former best friends. After writing the two opening chapters, I ended up deleting them completely and going back to the start of their story 20 years earlier. It now takes over 50,000 words for the characters to be at the reunion. J And I am so happy I made the decision to write their beginning.
As for the
future, do you have any plans? Will we see more of your writing translated?
The whole True-Blue series has been contracted by my Italian publisher (8 books in total), which is super exciting. I do plan to reach out to them to see if they’re interested any more of my series. It’s just a case of knowing what Italian readers want. J

Vedo che hai
pubblicato tantissimi libri. Complimenti! Puoi raccontarmi qual è stato il
primo libro che hai scritto? E cosa ti ha ispirato a pubblicarlo?
Il mio primo libro è
stato “Let Me Show You”, che è stato anche la mia prima traduzione in
italiano. Risale a diversi anni fa—credo fosse il 2017, quando lo scrissi per
la prima volta dopo aver sentito la frase “let me show you” in una canzone. Non
riesco proprio a ricordare quale fosse la canzone. J
Subito ho capito che sarebbe stata la partenza per una storia di opposti che si
attraggono.
Di cosa parla invece
il tuo ultimo libro?
La mia ultima uscita è
stata “Kael”, il secondo volume della serie Monsters & Mates.
È un fantasy romantico pieno di mostri, con portali da attraversare, anime
destinate e la tipica tensione nemici-che-diventano-amanti, dovuta alla
convivenza forzata e a personalità in conflitto. Aspettatevi vibrazioni di “sei
mio”, colpi di scena in stile hurt/comfort, pericoli da livello alfa e
una collisione esplosiva tra ironia tagliente e muscoli temprati dalle
battaglie.
Sono curiosa: tra
tutti i personaggi che hai scritto, qual è stato il più difficile e perché?
Oh, domanda difficile.
Credo Thatch in “Thicker Than Water”. Ho fatto davvero fatica a sentire
chiaramente la sua voce. Era il mio primo romanzo urban fantasy romance e, di
conseguenza, ho finito per scriverlo dal solo punto di vista di Callen.
C’è invece un
personaggio a cui sei particolarmente affezionata?
Probabilmente Cassius
della mia serie Zone Defense. È presente in tutti e quattro i libri, ma
la sua storia d’amore arriva solo nel quarto, “No Backing Down”. La sua
voce era così forte, luminosa e vivace. Mi sono divertita moltissimo a crearlo.
Quando però sono arrivata a scrivere la sua storia, sapevo che il suo passato
non era così semplice come la sua personalità faceva credere.
Come ti senti sapendo
che il tuo libro, la tua idea, può essere letta da altre persone?
Onestamente, è tanto
incredibile quanto travolgente. Amo l’idea di offrire ai lettori la possibilità
di evadere nella narrativa romantica e spero di dare loro l’occasione di
staccare un po’ dalla vita reale. La parte più gratificante, però, è quando i
lettori mi contattano per dirmi che un personaggio o una trama li hanno colpiti
in qualche modo: è lì che tutto il duro lavoro acquista senso.
Ti chiedo ora quali
emozioni hai provato, e provi ancora, sapendo che i tuoi libri sono arrivati in
Italia. Personalmente, sono molto felice! Se ne hai uno, puoi raccontarci un
aneddoto?
È stato un momento da “mi devo dare un
pizzicotto”. Vedere i miei libri
tradotti è una sensazione incredibile. Amo l’idea che le mie parole possano
arrivare ad altre culture e lingue. Sono stata fortunata, negli anni in cui
vivevo nel Regno Unito, a trascorrere parecchio tempo in Italia, quindi sapere
che i miei libri sono stati tradotti in una lingua così bella è meraviglioso.
Secondo te, cosa non
dovrebbe mai mancare in un romanzo, e quindi, cosa non manca mai nei tuoi
scritti?
Dal momento che leggo romance, il lieto fine è
scontato. J Ma ci tengo sempre anche a inserire un tocco di umorismo, soprattutto
sarcastico. Anche con temi più
pesanti, spezzare la tensione con un po’ di leggerezza è sempre una pausa
gradita.
Vorrei anche
chiederti: da dove prendi ispirazione per le tue storie e i tuoi personaggi?
Di solito da una frase sentita per caso, a
volte perfino da un meme che fa scattare un’idea. Proprio la settimana scorsa
ho letto su un social una storia nata da un meme e subito sono emerse nuove
idee, tanto che mi sono ritrovata a scrivere le prime 11.000 parole di una
storia che non avevo programmato e per la quale non avrei nemmeno il tempo. Sapevo solo che dovevo
scriverle.
Quando scrivi,
preferisci il silenzio, la musica o i rumori di sottofondo?
Di solito il silenzio, a meno che non stia
scrivendo una scena particolarmente emozionante (o che i personaggi stessi non
mi spingano a entrare in sintonia con le emozioni romantiche). In quel caso creo una
playlist a tema emotivo e la ascolto in loop. Eccone un esempio: Playlist
di Kael.
Hai qualche retroscena
sulla tua ultima storia che nessuno conosce? Uno di quei segreti che nessuno
immagina.
Una delle mie prossime uscite, “Caden & Theo” (un libro del mondo condiviso Gomillion High School Reunion, in uscita a novembre 2025), inizialmente si apriva con la reunion scolastica tra due ex migliori amici. Dopo aver scritto i primi due capitoli, li ho cancellati completamente e sono tornata all’inizio della loro storia, vent’anni prima. Adesso servono oltre 50.000 parole per arrivare alla reunion. JE sono felicissima di aver scelto di raccontare le origini.
Per quanto riguarda il
futuro, hai dei progetti? Vedremo altre tue opere tradotte?
L’intera serie True-Blue è stata acquisita dal mio editore italiano (8 libri in totale), il che è davvero entusiasmante. Ho intenzione di contattarli per capire se siano interessati anche ad altre mie serie. È solo una questione di capire cosa desiderano i lettori italiani. J

Concentrarmi era una fatica. Non il momento migliore per questo, considerando che avevo ancora due riunioni da affrontare e una pila di scartoffie che richiedevano la mia attenzione.
Ma ogni volta che permettessi alla mia mente di vagare, andava immediatamente al momento in cui Jasper mi aveva accompagnato alla porta e mi aveva augurato la buonanotte.
Il fatto che mi avesse accompagnato alla porta e mi avesse baciato sullo zerbino prima di lasciarmi con le labbra gonfie e un’erezione era, onestamente, la prima volta che un uomo l’avesse mai fatto con me. Mi aveva lasciato con le ginocchia deboli e a rivivere quel momento costantemente, quando non potevo permettermelo.
Ma quell’esperienza aveva lasciato il segno, e la bocca ardente di Jasper contro la mia, la sua lingua che accarezzava la mia mentre mi tirava vicino, era un ricordo che avrei assaporato. Al diavolo la frenesia.
